COMB WASH RIDE  Departure: 7:30 A.M Thursday, February 9, 2006 from Cedaredge, CO to Montrose, Ridgway and Norwood, then westward to Monticello, UT, Blanding and UT95 west to Comb Ridge, dirt/sand Comb Wash road south to US163, east to Bluff, lunch at the twin Rocks Cafe, back to Blanding by pavement and return to Colorado by the same route we came.

Riders: Verle, Kawasaki KLR650, from Cedaredge; Billy, Suzuki DL650, Gene, BMW R1200GS, and Loren, KTM 950 Adventure, from Montrose; John, Suzuki DL650, from Norwood.

Trip distance: 520 miles for Verle; approximately 450 miles for Billy, Gene and Loren; approximately 300 for John.

Gene retrieving the tail box from his R1200GS after a fast encounter with a particular nasty road washout caused the mounting bolts to pull from the plastic base plate. Billy (on left) opening a Pelican Case. Gene (on right) working to remount his tailbox, which he did successfully. It stayed in place for the remainder of the ride.
