Northwest of Monticello, Utah     Evening of October 10, 2003 cave-header.jpg - 21080 Bytes The dark patches on the back wall of the cave are water seeps. The cave floor was dry.
Camping in the desert sans tent, with rain almost a certainty, requires only one thing: a cave.
Ideally, such a cave should have a magnificent view.

from the cave
After the rain quit, around 9:00 P.M., the full moon appeared over the lightning-laced clouds as they receded low in the east. By the luck of nature, the moon was visable from my bedroll in the cave, arcing across the sky just below the lower edge of the arched opening of the cave. What a magnificent night.
